G'day all
Have you seen the latest share price for Cognos? The 1999 it's gone from
only about USD19 at the beginning to over USD47 currently! That's fantastic
growth for the company without .com at the end of its name. ;)
Here is an extract of a press release (source MSNBC) that contains a quote
from Ron Zambioni. The quote regards PowerHouse and Axiant and I am unsure
what to make of it. The word 'legacy' to me means old and out-of-date and
not something to use for developing new applications. I am also confused as
to how revenue from the ADT products can have declined when license sales
have increased. Have licenses gone down in price?
What do y'll (I'm in Texas now) think?
'Revenue from the Company's mature 4GL products, PowerHouse(R) and
Axiant(R), was $14.0 million in the third quarter, compared to $17.1 million
in the third quarter of last year. Zambonini said, "The overall decline in
revenue from these products is consistent with the rate of decline we
experienced through the first half of this fiscal year. We are satisfied
with our customers' continuing commitment to the use of our legacy line of
application development tools."'
