Application Security Problem in 710G1

I have a screen in 710G1, which is part of an application, which was upgraded
from
620 to 710G1.

Some screens, are issue security errors, where there were none in 620. Source
has not been modified, and dictionary diffs ok, as to security classes ,
members
etc...

I've debug'd it to 1 file, which the user has Record Write access to. It is
declared as a DESIGNER. At a LET verb in the PREUPDATE procedure, it
fails with the standard "YOU AREN'T AUTHORIZED TO UPDATE DATA IN THIS FIELD".

And yet, a screen, file gen go, give user full access.

I've arrived late in this problems life, of course, and did not do the
conversion.

My question thus is :

Has anyone run into anything similar ?
