Null Date Separator in pre-710G.

A date is really just a specially formatted number so you could specify a
PICTURE, however you will lose your date editing and input format control.
If you do choose the PICTURE approach, then by default you'll be entering
and displaying YYYYMMDD. You'll have to do your own input reformatting, date
editing, and output reformatting to get DDMMYYYY. This is why we added
NULLSEPARATOR, because it's not easy to get any other way.

By the way, why can't you upgrade to 7.10G? Andwhat version are you on?
