Performance Issue

I've just "revived" Architect 7.29C4 to do major revisions to the
dictionary of a production system. The performance of Architect in certain
operations is painfully slow when run on my PC that is connected via the
network. If I do the same operations using a serially connected terminal
the performance is very good.
Deleting item lines from the Record and Items screen followed by a
UpdateStay, (e.g.,
D-11/15;US) takes four minutes on my PC versus a few seconds on a serial
terminal. System workload is not a factor in the problem.
I think someone posted a message about this problem. I seem to recall it
had to do with CTRL-Y and/or locking. Does anyone remember the problem and
solution?
Thanks!
