Open or closed subsription?

I subscribe also to the HP3000-L discussion list. To infer from the amount
of traffic, there are about 8 times as many active participants than on the
Powerh-L list. This list is open to newsgroups. The amount of spamming,
while offensive, is relatively minor. The list administrator has managed to
set up some very effective filters to prevent most of the spamming from
reaching the list altogether.

While most people can reach the list via e-mail, I think we need to extend
ourselves for those people who cannot. The more individuals who are able to
ask and answer questions the better for everyone else.

I vote for an open list with filtering
