Open or closed subsription?

My vote is to allow the list to be OPEN similar to the HP3000-l list which
shadows the postings to comp.sys.hp.mpe. The main drawback (apart from the
spam) is that sometimes the post can take up to a week to get copied (or
sometimes a day). Perhaps some filtering can be done to eliminate a
reasonable amount of spam. I am voting this way as it is easier for me to
access the newsgroups sometimes.
