Help!
Anyone out there has upgraded to 710G on OpenVMS/InterBase? We at
Republic Mase Australia are experiencing a few problems -
1. Linking a LONG BINARY to a SHORT BINARY in QTP and QUIZ gave Data
Conversion Error and crashed.
- Workaround: link LONG to LONG only.
2. FIELD <item> FOR X,Y where X >1 in QUICK gave Access Violation and
dropped to DCL.
- Workaround: aviod multiple-line. That's use X = 1.
Both above cases do not exist in previous versions of PH and the
workarounds are not acceptable to us. We have tons of QTP and QUIZ
programs that run in batch for end-of-day processing each day. Case 1
is a big problem for us and we therefore cannot upgrade :-(
Because of the deadline we have to meet the OCC requirement (on US
banks/financial institutions), we might have to resort to 710Fn to be
Y2K compliant. This means more trouble for us having to code our own
century-window feature, etc.
I just joined the distribution list and am therefore not aware of any
previous discussion on this 710G subject. Tried the "index powerh-l"
command to the list server but no files were returned. Any pointers
will be appreciated.
I would like to hear the experience/opinion of people out there on
710G. Any advice?
Our current environment: OpenVMS AXP/VAX and InterBase 33j3/33D3 and
PH710E4.
Thank you,
A Ling.
