I see you're using 8.40E. Have you tried the current version?

No, there is no logical. It's in the directory where the .sfd is.

Did you not notice that it works fine if I put the semicolon on the end?
For those not familiar with VMS, that denotes the highest version. The
default with no version signifier is also supposed to denote the highest
version. It's not seeing the subfile at all with no version signifier.

We have been using this subfile for months without issue until a new
version was created last Friday.

Are you physically in the same directory as the subfile. (I'm not
seeing any sort of logical name which would point

To a default directory or directory search list for subfiles).

Given there is no logical name in the subfile open, is the subfile
normally created/processed as part of a batch run

Which DOES create a subfile, then sets a logical name
(SF$IA_1099_TAPE_2014_BKR) to point to it?

(search your batch ".com" files for SF$IA_1099_TAPE_2014_BKR to see it's
actually a logical...).

Do you have a "Fat Finger" typo there? Usually "we" would us a logical
to point to a subfile

Directory, typically your subfile reference would look like:

Access *SF:IA_1099_TAPE_2014_BKR

(Look for the subfile IA_1099_TAPE_2014_BKR in the directory(s) pointed
to by the logical SF...

Just thinking out loud on a slow morning, (foolishly before finishing my
first cup of coffee...).

I've never seen anything like this before:

$>> quiz

Q U I Z (PowerHouse 8.40.E)

Copyright (C) 2008 Cognos Incorporated. All rights reserved.

> access *SF$IA_1099_TAPE_2014_BKR

*E* The subfile requested does not exist.

> access *SF$IA_1099_TAPE_2014_BKR;

*W* PowerHouse name for SF$IA_1099_TAPE_2014_BKR; is
SF$IA_1099_TAPE_2014_BKR.

This is on OpenVMS V8.3, which has multiple file versions. I get similar
results when I use qshow.

Any ideas on what may have caused this?
