Hi Adrian,
You mention that you've read some of the documents available on the IBM
site regarding migration planning, but I just wanted to ensure that you
had access to the full documentation set...

You'll see that there is both a Migration Planning Guide for MPE/iX (8.4.F
being the most recent) and a related set of migration scripts available in
a zip archive.
For practical purposes you can treat a migration to Linux the same as a
migration to any other UNIX-like o/s, and the UNIX documentation linked to
on the above page also covers Linux, with the 8.4.G version being the
current release.
