Re-Introduction to PowerHouse

I have started a new PowerHouse contract in Canada after a hiatus of about
6 years. It's all coming back to me, generally. I was quite pleased to find
that the powerh-l list is still active. I also see that the Cognoise web
site is up but is quite devoid of PowerHouse activity.

My current assignment is on an OpenVMS Alpha system. We also have UNIX
which we may migrate to in the future. Being a VMS developer for many, many
years, I'm quite reluctant to see such a migration. It would provide a lot
of work, however!

Has there been a census of PH systems done here? I'm curious about the
staying power. I know that there never were too many installations, but how
many are left? It is my belief that many systems are migrated to other
technologies for the wrong reasons. I also believe that IBM doesn't really
appreciate PowerHouse, concentrating instead on the Cognos BI tools. This,
of course, is nothing unique to IBM. Compaq, then HP, didn't really promote
the DEC Alpha. Oracle doesn't seem to promote RDB.
