Porting subfiles to the HP

Hello Ken,

The file code is very specific to the HP3000 file system. Depending on the software you're using to upload your files, you may or may not be able to specify this file code for the newly created file on the hp3000. Let's say you're uploading your files using a manual ftp from a unix box for instance, you should be able to enter the filecode in your ftp put command as follows :
put YOURFILE.ps YOURFILT;code=647
put YOURFILE.psd YOURFILQ;code=648

The FTP server on the hp3000 side should understand these commands.
Of course, as your file won't have exactly the same name on the hp3000 (same file with extensions ps and psd on unix, but 2 different file names on the hp3000), you may have to modify the data file name in the dictionary file.

If you can't do this within the transfer (using a windows interface for instance), you'll have to build your files on the hp3000 with the correct filecodes and then fcopy your transferred files to your built files.

Hope this helps
Jerome

Objet : Porting subfiles to the HP

Hello all

Does anyone know how to port portable subfiles to the HP?

When I create a portable subfile on the HP the CODE is 647 for the data file and 648 for the subfile dictionary.
When I upload the files, there is no code associated with the files.
I remember seeing this in a job somewhere, but I cannot find it.
