Any suggestions for a 'programmer's workbench' for Powerhouse ?

This is a personal observation, not an IBM recommendation. I used TextPad
for years at Cognos. Someone had done a PowerHouse syntax colouring
template, but it wasn't kept up to date. I remember comparing text
editors, and for me that was the best. Your mileage may differ.

I have used several editors over the last 25 years and I finally gave in
to using a windows version of VI about 10 years ago.
The Product is VIM and it is a free product
It is more powerful than the VI editor on Unix/Linux. The editor has code
coloring, I programmed all the powerhouse keywords into VIM, so I can see
syntax errors as I am typing (I can send you this).
The best part is, with one editor you can work on Windows/Unix and Linux.

I'm starting on a small lift-and-shift from 3000 to Windows. Does anyone
have any suggestions for a coding editor alternative to 'notepad' ? I have
used slickedit before, but that is somewhat more expensive than I can
justify. What have listers used that they can recommend?
Thanks
