Changing database password in production dictionary file

Hi Syed:

It has been awhile since I have used SQL Server or Axiant so what follows are rough
   ideas.

You may be able to bury the password in the resource file or in the ODBC.ini entry for
   your database.

If you leave the username and password out of the dictionary definition then
MS SQL Server client should present the user with a login screen.

Did you consider using Windows authentication instead of username/password?

A good discussion can be found at:-

Regards,
Peter

Is there any way to change the password stored in the dictionary without recompiling the dictionary?

Thank you Mike.

Does that mean, if I want to have a different password in the production from development, i have to first set the intended production password in development and compile the dictionary. After compilation and copying change the development password back to the old one.

You change it in the source code for the dictionary and then recompile the dictionary.

Subject: Changing database password in production dictionary file

Dear list,

Can anyone help me?

I want to change the database password stored in the dictionary file in the production.

I need to do it from time to time.

My database is in SQL Server 2000.

I have a thick client environment and I am running POWERHOUSE/Axiant 4GL.

I can change the password in the database. But how do i change the password in the dictionary to make it same as the password i have set in the database?

Best Regards,

SYED.
