QDESIGN having trouble with VMS chained logicals?

Hi Richard:

Thanks for pointing out this QDESIGN versus QUIZ difference.
Does this problem show up when you execute the GO command or
does it show up when QDESIGN is trying to compile an USE file?

My personal preference is to be informed when a directory does not exist.
But I could see a lot of DCL scripts failing if Cognos changed QUIZ
to work as QDESIGN works.

Regards.

QDESIGN having trouble with VMS chained logicals?

I found something strange with chained VMS logicals with QDESIGN. Like, we have a directory logical defined as:

IA_AMR_UAT>> sh log dir$ia_common_data

   "DIR$IA_COMMON_DATA" = "UATDATA:[IA_COMMON_UAT.DAT]" (STAR_UAT)

        = "PRDDATA:[IA_COMMON_PRO_DAT]"

If the second directory does not exist, QDESIGN gives a %RMS-E-DNF, directory not found error, even if the file exists in the primary directory. So if you make a boo-boo defining your directory logical chain, it doesn't work. Oddly enough, QUIZ has no problem with it.
