As Ken says the issue with defines is that they are re-evaluated every
time they are referenced, so the cpu impact can be considerable if the
defines are used in cascading references. If it is referenced only once
it will be the same as temps.
In my experience I have found QTP to be more efficient in most cases and
would always look at using qtp to streamline the processes. Sometimes it
is better to have multiple passes to reduce the record complex when
accessing isam files. But of you are using a relational database then
get it to do the work!
