The user logging in will be on a web browser. Will that user (and browser)
be on an OpenVMS box? Or will the user be running on a PC somewhere?
While the PH Web Server may be running on an OpenVMS box, the actual user
of the system may be anywhere. The PH Web Server process is started by the
Dispatcher which is started by someone on the OpenVMS system (or is
started at boot) but the owner of that process is not the user actually
making the PH Web request.
The authentication process is made by the Web server which is where the
function WEBLOGONID gets it's value. So if the user is authenticated,
you'll have the value of the user id used in WEBLOGONID. There's no way to
get the password used to authenticate.

PH Web and OpenVMS
Hi everyone. We are thinking of using PH Web and OpenVMS in the
following way:
Is possible to access the VMS login (user_id/password) from a Powerhouse
WEB screen and use this information to authenticate the person logging in,
instead of creating a whole new user id/login process? If so, does anyone
know where I can find information on this?
thnx!
