Table Alias'ing

        Hi John:

         I don't see a reason for a second attach.

Your PRIMARY and DESIGNER should be able to share the same attach.

The underlining SQL should be able to handle a second OPEN CURSOR within
         a FETCH NEXT loop.

         Regards,
         Peter

Greetings Listers:

I am under the impression/assumption that under the following conditions a second attach is made to the database: Powerhouse 7.10e DEC SQL V6.1-13:

Example #1:

FILE OBLIGATION ALIAS OB

I assert that it's (almost) the same as:

Example #2:

FILE OBLIGATION DESIGNER

FILE OBLIGATION designer alias obl

where you must have two separate attaches.

Can anyone please clear up any misapprehension? A colleague here says that the first is only a 'pointer' (his term) situation and no second attach happens.

TIA

JP
