Upgrade from 7.10G1 to 8.40E

First go through the 8.30 Upgrade Guide thoroughly. If you don't have it, 
you can download it from the Support site or from powerhouse.cognos.com. 
Then read the 8.40E Release Notes. You may find something in the Knowledge 
Base on the support site as well.

Note that upgrading PHD is a two step process but the routines are 
included with the 8.40E install. 

Most differences that people run into at this point are subtle and depend 
on exactly what you've got. Contact Support if you find a difference. It 
may have been reported. Differences may not be bugs, but may just be a 
difference. In my experience, there are very few of these.
