Powerhouse 8.43D and Oracle performance

Hi All,

We are running 8.43D1 on an AIX server with Oracle 10g and have noticed
performance degradation caused by some inefficient ‘behind the scenes’ SQL
code generated by Powerhouse. The code in question relates to Powerhouse
figuring out which procedures a user has rights to by querying the
user_arguments object.

Without going into the technical specifics, we logged a call with Cognos
(11-30343281) and they have suggested upgrading Powerhouse from 8.43D1 to
8.43E to improve overall Oracle performance, even though this particular
piece of SQL code is unchanged between the two releases.

For us to upgrade is a considerably large task, so I was wondering in
advance of us considering it whether people have found the D1 to E upgrade
worthwhile (in particular from a performance perspective)

Any general comments would be greatly appreciated.

Kind Regards,

Adrian Hudson
