I have always found it useful in situations like this to define
repeating items as below. This has proven itself to the extent that I
automatically include such a definition for any repeating items in the
dictionary as standard practice.
Item COMMENTS Datatype Character Size 200 Create
Begin Structure
Item COMMENT-1 Datatype Character Size 50
Item COMMENT-2 Datatype Character Size 50
Item COMMENT-3 Datatype Character Size 50
Item COMMENT-4 Datatype Character Size 50
End Structure
Item COMMENTS Datatype Character Size 200 &
Redefines COMMENTS
Begin Structure
Item COMMENT Datatype Character Size 50 Occurs 4
End Structure
Looping constructs have never been one of Powerhouse's strengths and it
is often easier to deal when the individual occurrences by their unique
names.

Subject: retrieve/access occurrence of item
Hi,
PH 7.10.E6, VMS 7.3-1 RMS indexed file
I have a record with 3 items item1, item2, item3. Item3 occurs 5 times
and is made up of 2 segments call them item3A & item3B.
Is there a way to check the value of item3A when retrieving the record
(either in the Find or PostFind procedure).
i.e. retrieve record, check value of item3A[1], [2], [3], [4], [5].
I should mention there is only 1 record to this screen and it has an
occurs.
Thanx
