  Many thanks to all who sent me solutions/suggestions. Gold star to Kent Heatherington with this fix which solved my problem:
   
  $!Gold key setup for KEA 
$! set value to 1 
$! HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Attachmate\KEA!\n.nn\Compatibility\ForceNumlock 
$! ForceNumlock : string : 0 
  
I switched the ForceNumlock string to 1 and it works like a charm!
