New feature suggestion : Usage of cobol program in QTP

The ability to call a compiled object in as similar manner to the call to a
stored procedure,

 

e.g. sql in AXNWIND  call dbo.ORDIDLINEHIGH ( ORDERID OF orders  IN,
t_nextno  out)

That's what Guy Werry suggested. While that works, it does not get data to
and from the COBOL program within a QTP request.

You can, but there is no connection between the COBOL program and QTP. In
other words, you can't pass data back and forth.

Why can't you do a Shell command  like "! cobol.sh" ?

You can't call a COBOL subroutine directly from QTP. There is no equivalent
of QUICK's DO EXTERNAL. There may be other techniques to run a program as a
subprocess but there would be no connection between the COBOL program and
QTP.
