Hi,

We are currently running Powerhouse 8.20.D7 with Oracle 8I Release 2 on
an Alpha running OpenVMS 7.3.

We are attempting to upgrade our Powerhoue version to 8.40.D1 but have
run into some significant performance problems with any programs that
make an sql call to an Oracle procedure. Programs that run in 2- 3
minutes under 8.20 now take 15 to 20 minutes on 8.40 and simple product
inquiries that return data within a second or two, now take between 15 -
20 seconds. Biggest impact was on one of our nightly updates which
normally runs under 15 minutes, in testing now takes approximately 12
hours. We have monitored the jobs and in each case it is the sql call
that is bringing the program to its knees. We opened a call with Cognos
but to date haven't made much progress. During the discussions with our
support contact, he mentioned that he isn't aware of anyone running
8.40.D1 with Oracle 8I. I was wondering if anyone was running this
combination and if so, did you encounter any performance issues along
the way? W do have future plans to bring Oracle up to 10g but we were
hoping to get the Powerhouse part out of the way before then.
