MSSQL DB

Joe is correct about the different configurations. We do not compare performance between databases.
The connection to MS SQL Server on Windows is via ODBC which is how Microsoft says to do it. This was effective with SQL Server 7 and up. We do tweak our internal ODBC driver configuration because we can tell that it's SQL Server.

Is your Oracle on the PH Unix box, or also on a remote windows box; also, are both connections via ODBC ? or is one via native connection and the other not etc.... ( I seem to recall that Cognos claim that MS SQL Server is no longer available via native connection, but I have a sneaking suspicion that this is not entirely correct/true )
Either way , I am sure that Cognos won't give you a comparative expectation, not least, because of the enumerable ways that the differing DBs can be configured.

Is there anyone out there using MSSQL DB for their relational database in windows with Powerhouse in Unix?
I am having a major speed problem - the Powerhouse codes seem to work many times slower getting data from MSSQL then from Oracle DB.

Thanks for your input. I will mull this over and see what we can do.
