Ph and Oracle error fixed

We can now connect PH to Oracle DB.

We had spoke to offsite Oracle DBA by phone and he discovered for some
reason that the setting up of the Oracle env. vars. were required to be
setup for each user (a great temporary working solution, until we can
investigate this more).

was because the default client config file was'nt set up correctly,

The "open" clause in your database statement should be:

  OPEN ORACLE@<username>@CMSTEST/<password>

Comes back as Ok. Its on the same server so should be no firewall
issues.

I can connect to Oracle from the shell> sqlplus
<username>@cmstest/<password> and connects fine. Just the Powerhouse
connect from the PH Dictionary. Maybe it's the setup of the Database
command?

cmstest is the Oracle instance name

DATABASE CMSDB &
  TYPE ORACLE &
  NULL VALUES ALLOWED &
  OWNER <username> &
  OPEN cmstest &
  USERID "<username>" &
  PASSWORD "<password>"

Is the above correct?

Brett,
Try doing a TNSPING that will validate your connectivity. Also, review
any firewalls between your server and the database server that may be
blocking ports 1521 and 1529.

Hi all

We're getting there on setting up Oracle with Powerhouse so there might
be a few posts over tht next week or two...


Using qshow to show the tables from the Oracle database I get this
error. Any ideas what would be causing this?

*W* SQL START DBE error (CMS)
DMS-E-CONNECTREJECT, A connection has been rejected by the remote
interface during operation 'attach database'.
Error while trying to retrieve text for error ORA-12154

    Records & Sizes:    ** none **
