Roger,
Cognos used to have a product called Architect that you could use to
maintain the dictionary. They dropped it after version 7.29 was
released.

Thanks to all for the responses. I think we have decided to use a
subfile, i.e. in pass one, get the input parameters and store them in a
subfile. Then in pass 2, access this subfile to print the parameters on
the report.
Incidentally, moving from PH on OpenVMS to PH on HPUX (or MPE/iX) is a
bit annoying when it comes to dictionary work. No PHD menu system in
HPUX (or MPE/iX). What do you mean I have to dump the dictionary,
change it, (re)load it and then restore the Oracle dbms too? All this
if you need an additional character or so in an element in a CISAM file!
And we won't even get into operating system commands.

The wau\y I know is to get the choose values and use the put environment
variables command.
Then in next pass use you can use the variables in you choose and report
statements. More tricky with Unix because of the non inheritance
between son and father events.
