Vamsi,
The text file will have to match the definition of the subfile. So, if the subfile has records that are defined as 6 bytes, then you have to provide a file that looks like:
EA3xxx
F446xx (where the 'x's are BLANKS).
Or, you can define the subfile as an indexed subfile, which means that it will recognize a carriage return (I think). That may be simpler.
Or, you can define a file in your dictionary as a DIRECT file, which will recognize the carriage return.

Subject: Help Needed: Cognos Powerhouse. Accessing Flat File in Power
House
Hi ,
I need your help in Powerhouse. Actually i am very new to this technology.
I work on a Unix system on which Cognos Powerhouse is installed.
I have a text file( flat file) which contains a list of records with single
item(call SRC). I need to access this data, and for that i need to put this
data in a subfile and access through Powerhouse. I created a empty subfile
with required structure and replaced the subfile with the text file
mv VENDORS.txt DUNS_EXTRACT.sf
and tried to access it using quiz, and results were ambiguous(one record
was split in two lines).
For eg if the record SRC was EA3F446
while doing i got the results in two lines:
EA3
F446
Which is
please tell me how to convert this txt file to a subfile.
I'd be really grateful to you if you can help me in this
Thanks and Regards,
Vamsi
