Here's a challenge

Obviously you're trying to solve a problem created by a poor design.

I'm not sure what platform you're on, but a similar technique might work on
other platforms...

1.  If the platform is HP and
2.  The QUIZ reports can run in separate "steps", e.g.:

:FILE QUIZUSE = REPORT1
:QUIZ
:FILE QUIZUSE=REPORT2
:QUIZ

You could then assign the use .TXT file to $NULL before that step and reset
it afterwards.
