Our relationship with Speedware, like our other partnerships, is
designed to benefit existing PowerHouse customers and hopefully to
attract some customers who are no longer supported. At present,
Speedware's main business is focused on HP e3000 migrations, and there
is a significant opportunity in this market to increase awareness of the
strong resources available to preserve and extend software investments
into the future.
The wisest, cost-effective decision customers can make is to retain and
enhance their PowerHouse applications, moving them to current, supported
platforms. Our recent releases of PowerHouse 4GL on HP-UX Itanium and
OpenVMS Itanium were meant to address this need. This option has shown
to be the most prevalent solution being undertaken by many customers who
have already completed successful migrations to-date. By working
cooperatively with Speedware, we can ensure successful transitions and
address enhancements to modernize these applications in a timely manner,
extending our customers' application viability at a low cost. The
platform may change, but the application software remains the same.
So, there's really nothing to read "between the lines" in the press
release. Essentially, the partnership aims to achieve a win-win-win
situation for PowerHouse Customers, Cognos and Speedware.
Doug Moffatt,
Manager, Application Development Tools
Cognos, Inc.

I'm surprised that this hasn't appeared on this list yet, as it has
appeared on the HP3000 and HP9000 lists. It was posted there by someone
named Christine, with the address of christinem at speedware.com. Would
someone from Cognos care to comment?

Cognos / Speedware Partnership Press Release
Speedware Announces Strategic Partnership with Cognos Partnership to
Drive New Opportunities
Montreal, Quebec - (November 30, 2006) -- Speedware, a division of
Activant Solutions Inc., and a leading provider of innovative enterprise
software solutions and productivity tools, announced today a new
strategic partnership with Cognos, the world leader in business
intelligence and performance management solutions. Speedware offers
migration and legacy modernization solutions as well as application
support to Cognos PowerHouse customers.
Cognos PowerHouse is an application development solution used by
organizations to develop business applications. Under the terms of the
partnership, Speedware will become a Preferred Service Solution Provider
for users of this Cognos solution. The partnership will cover marketing,

migrations. For customers looking to modernize their legacy
applications, Speedware will provide enhanced support offerings as well
as all-encompassing solutions that address data and databases, operating
systems and third-party technologies.
"We are extremely pleased with this partnership and look forward to
sharing a vision that aligns our two companies," said Christine
McDowell, Manager of Strategic Migration Alliances at Speedware. "We are
also very proud that Cognos selected Speedware as a Preferred Service
Solution Provider. Clearly, this is recognition of our position as a
leader in legacy modernization. We have helped hundreds of customers
migrate seamlessly - an accomplishment that is due as much to our
expertise as it is to the automated tools we have developed. We want
PowerHouse customers to know that they too can adopt leading-edge
systems and technologies without losing the investment in their legacy
applications."
"By leveraging Speedware's expertise in migrations, this agreement will
ensure that PowerHouse customers benefit from more comprehensive
solutions that also address third-party technologies," said Doug
Moffatt, Manager of Application Development Tools at Cognos. "Providing
our customers with world- class solutions has always been a priority for
Cognos. Now, PowerHouse customers will benefit by being able to rely on
Speedware's expertise, whether for migrations, modernization or
