QUIZ truncation vs varchar

Thanks for that nice tip John. Yes I want to let QUIZ do all the work,
but why on earth are we not allowed to place the string functions we
want at the report-item level? We are forced to use defines prior to
reporting the item. The exception is of course tricks like yours.
