If I'm not mistaken QTP will automatically generate ITEM INITIAL
statements if you have an ADD in the output statement.
I believe you will need to specify an ITEM FINAL statement for all items
you want to update.

Subject: QTP output update item statements
Hi,
I have a QTP program to read fileA and add/update the contents into
existing fileB, and it correctly adds all new records.
However the update doesn't seem to work without an item statement,
although the manual says the record structure will be updated if it is
different. As these files have over 20 items, I wondered if there is a
short cut so that I do not have to specify an item statement for every
item.
Any ideas?
Mary.
