record/line prompt in cluster (with cache) after delete?

If we have a cluster (with cache) of say 4 records, and we delete records 2-4 (D-2/4) and update, then if we want to add replacement records, the prompt is at record/line 5.  If we leave the screen and come back, the prompt is where we expected:  record/line 2.  How can we prompt at the line where the record was deleted?
