HI Don,

I think you can do it 2 ways With Windows

1) you can use Net Use command and map the port to any Network printer.

         i.e. C:>NET USE LPT1: \SERVER\PRINTER_Q

2)or you can write a small program to pop up the windows printer selection
box for users to pick the printer and just set it to default

Hope this will help you

Subject: HP to Windows QUIZ printing

Hi,

I am in the middle of migrating a fairly large app from the HP3000 to
Windows. Fooling around with all the various ways to handle printed output
from QUIZ (8.41.D). I need to settle on a method for re-directing printed
output from batch jobs.

I am wondering if anyone has any doco, or better yet a working example, of
the PH_PRINTER env variable on Windows. Can't figure out what to set it to,
or even if it works. Would be a nice option in some cases if I could make
it behave.

I have a similar problem with the DESTINATION option of SET REPORT. Anyone
made this work on Windows? Output just keeps going to the default printer
regardless of what I try.

Last but not least anyone tried SET REPORT DEVICE PRINTER <string> - this
one is in the migration guide. Not sure what <string> should be. I did
check my QUIZ reference manual, but it was not much help. It mentions all
these approaches, but that's about it. Where can I find any doco on this?
I am probably not looking in the right place.

I sure wish Windows had file equations - so far this is the thing I miss the
most. Any help would be appreciated.
