RDB Blob issue

Hi all.  we recently upgraded our RDB DB to 7.1 and now get the following
error when touching a table containing a blob field when using 840d.

(viewable_letter_blob is the blob field)  This works under 710g1.  If you
don't reference the blob field, the access is ok.

any ideas?
