The way licensing works in PowerHouse Series 8 on OpenVMS is based on
counting users. There would be a license daemon running on one of the 4
machines that would handle checking users in and out and maintaining the
count. Any user logging on to PowerHouse from any of the 4 machines
would be counted. The user count is based on the license file and
software enable keys that your purchase. If you are currently running
7.10G and are a supported customer, you should have received 8.30 and
8.40. They both had license key sheets to send to Cognos Sales Admin to
get your series 8 keys.

For more information please contact your Sales Rep or Cognos Customer
Support.

Subject: PH licensing

Hi all,

we have a customer accessing the PowerHouse (7.10G) applications
randomly over the cluster of 4 machines. The customer would like to
upgrade to PH 8.40D which means multiple installations of PowerHouse
with each machine having a need for a separate Enable Key. They are
asking how to set up the environment technically not to abuse the
Licenced number of Users at any time.

Is there anybody running PowerHouse on ALPHA CLUSTER with some
independent servers, using same set of discs? Please tell me some more
about licensing on such an environment, how many users do you have per
server and how meny owerall?? What about enable key.

Can you please help anyhow?

Best regards,

Fredi
