Hi Guys,
We have two dictionaries on seperate machines, but I've got a particular JCL that dslines between the two machines, so it contains QTP and QUIZ routines that have been compiled against each dictionary. So I was just wondering if there was a quick and simple way of finding out which dictionary the routines were compiled against so I could ensure that they had been compiled against the coreect dictionary

to be perfectly honest, I had assumed that they would be happy to get a file match never mind anything else – how many dictionaries do they have J

The command may well work with the wrong dictionary. It depends how wrong the dictionary is. For example, if there are entities in the compiled file that are not in the dictionary, you'll get errors pretty quickly. However, if it's things like missing descriptions (that are used for help), you just won't see the help. Worse, if you use application security, but it's different between different dictionaries that otherwise have the same entities, you may get unpredictable security.

there is the long way, namely, run a command like ‘quick auto=filename dict=dictfile’ ( or the mpe equivalent ) for each of the dictionaries that you have. Presumably the command will only work with the correct dictionary J

Cheers
