My second computing job was at a company that had sixteen (16) of these
'Washing Machines'. They were connected to two (2) HP3000/Series III's
via another box called a 'Starfish' which was the same size as the HPs.
It also contained a fast tape drive.

When our main batch run was in full flow we used to get complaints from
the office below the computer room (which was on the 3rd floor) about
the amount of noise that it caused <G>.

In 1979, those washing machines were only 10 MB and the HP3000 was
approx 3 feet by 3 feet standing 6 feet tall.
