this behaviour changed on AIX too.
in 823d4 the text that caused the error is saved into the rev file, but in 843d it isn't.
could bob or someone confirm that this is by design?
out of curiosity i'd really like to know the reasoning behind the change if it is.

in a long quiz select and misspell 1 word

We recently looked at migrating from 7.10.G1 to 8.40D and found similar
behaviour in the 'REV' command. If everything was ok after you edited
the code, then it would be 'saved' when you exited from REV mode, but if
there was an error, it reverted to the original code. Is that the
behaviour you're seeing?
