PH and text files

One way is to map a sequential file into a dictionary and then read the
records via that. 

 

Alternatively, you could create a subfile and then copy the txt file over
the .sf part. 

 

In either case you might have to use the RMS covert command to modify the
file into a fixed rather than variable format; I'm sure that there are KB
docs available from Cognos on all of the above if you get stuck.

 

Then again, if you mean is there a standardized PH command to unstring the
text within the commas, then I'm afraid you will have to make lots of use of
the index function and write them out to defines mapped to a subfile perhaps
- or report them directly.
