No Duplicate in Quick

Am I red faced. Must have been too much wine this weekend (my wife and I
went on a wine tour of Niagara).
You may be able to turn off the duplicate command for all fields and
then programmatically enable it for the fields you want. I believe
(haven't tried it in a long time) that you can use control codes in
place of the field commands. If the user doesn't know what to enter,
then it's "hidden". Try <NUL>. Then you can trap the underscore in the
INPUT procedure and move the old value in. Of course you need to save
the value from the previous entry so this is not a simple solution.

Please note that Georgia is asking for a way to disable the Quick
duplicate function (i.e. use of the underscore key) -- and NOT the
behaviour which lets Quick default a new record field value to that of
the previous entry (i.e. the field statement duplicate parameter). Just
making the field required will not do what Georgia wants.
Sorry, I can't think of a way to do this since the underscore is
interpreted by Quick before the input procedure (the earliest you can
"interfere" with user entries) and therefore the screen designer has no
way of knowing how fieldtext got its value, either by user entry or by
the underscore duplicate key.
Good question Georgia :-)

There isn't any NODUPLICATE option in QDESIGN, nor is there any SET
DUPLICATE. When the option was added, it was felt that in most cases,
only specific fields would normally be duplicated. Rather than have
another SET option, or a SCREEN option, or a FILE option, we opted for
requiring the developer to specify that DUPLICATE was desired. This is
the same as the REQUIRED and many other FIELD options.

In Quick is there a way to turn off the ability to use the duplicate
command (underline key) in just 2 fields on a screen. I want the
duplicate to work normally for the rest of the fields, but not allow it
to be used in just 2 fields on the screen?
I am using Powerhouse 8.19.C3 on an HP3000.
