My opinion is that it's okay to post such a request.  If the number of postings interferes with the technical uses of the list, then perhaps it would deserve looking at it again.  I'd say we get fewer than 1 per month, so they shouldn't bother anyone.

By the way, is this an acceptable use of this forum? I was hesitant to post
that I too am looking for work in the Montreal area, but Marianne Stagg from
Cognos in Ottawa suggested that I could. I couldn't find any policy on the
registration web page. Any opinions?
