The biggest problem is that Cognos does very little to promoted
PowerHouse.
I think a big challenge facing PowerHouse 4GL is keeping
it current with new data sources and platforms.
I believe there well might be a place for Linux and .NET
versions of PowerHouse. As you pointed out it is possible to
make a SCO version of PowerHouse work on Linux. This is clearly
not supported.
All versions could support unixodbc or something like that. I am
sure EasySoft would like that. Cognos already has the code buried
away in the NT version. They need only port it to UNIX and VMS.
I wonder if the BI applications that run on unix support unixodbc?!
It would be nice if PowerHouse designers could create user defined
functions in a manner similiar to the way the BI users do.
