Powerhouse vs UNIX variables and assignments

Is AB4 an environment variable?  Can Quick see it?  Can
the dictionary see $GENRIC?

If you set a shell variable without exporting to make
it an environment variable is it possible that other
components of PowerHouse can't see it.

LET T_ABI_FILE_NAME = "${AB4}/NP000221.DAT"
