  I would not re-write the application in COBOL.

  I would look at the time frames. I would use the conversion to PowerHouse 
on Solaris
  as learning process to find out what your users really want. I have seen 
IT convert away from
  PowerHouse only to have an user uprising on their hands .

  By the way -- where have you been looking for PowerHouse resources?
