Remote PowerHouse (was Migration from Powerhouse MPE)

A few weeks ago, on this listserv, someone stated that
Powerhouse resources are scarce and fast depleting. 
Apparently, a true statement in the region where his
business is located.

I can't really speak for other countries but in the US
and Canada IT professionals have equipped themselves
with high speed internet connections.  I live in
Windsor, Ontario, Canada, a border city, on the
USA-Canada border.  My company, Consultants Club Corp.,
provides remote PowerHouse and BI resources for it's
clients.  A VPN (Virtual Private Network) connection
makes it possible.  I can work in one country one day
and another the next.  There is never any customs
officers asking to search your trunk.  

PowerHouse resources are everywhere, however they could
be 2000 miles away in reality.  Professionals may have
kids in school, could be involved in their respective
communities, or have strong family ties.  In a virtual
world they might as well be at a workstation down the
hall from the boss.  They wouldn't have to give
anything up.  Not to mention they never get stuck in
traffic.

The other day there was a contract position in Atlanta
and they said they were looking for local people.  This
is PowerHouse we're talking about.  Try to limit the
playing field to a single city and resources more then
likely will be scarce.

Imagine having PowerHouse resources from all over at
your disposal.  There out there and VPN connections can
bring anyone into to your office. 

Imagine, it's January, you arrive at your desk at a
company located in southern California.  You need to
revamp a Quick screen by tomorrow.  You think to
yourself that Joe could pull it off.  Joe lives in
northern Canada.  It's -55C there.  The doors of his
house have expanded from the extreme cold so he can't
leave his house.  He looks out his window and sees only
a protrudent car antenna in the snow.  Your email
appears in his inbox.  The next day the Quick screen is
ready for the user to look at in California.  

More businesses will someday use the internet when
resources are seemingly scarce.  Let's hope.
