Same way you would use QUIZ or QTP in batch
$QUTIL
>Create file <filename>
>exit
$...

As to the changes between 7.10 and 8.30, I would really recommend that you
read the 8.30 Upgrade guide. It goes into all these differences and
changes.

hmmm... but how do you use QUTIL in batch? ie: not interactively as in a
job. (see below)

Qutil is the replacement for PHDFM, it is a syntax based product unlike
PHDFM, so you use commands like
> Create file x
or
> Delefe file x
You can also SET FDL/NOFDL (NOFDL is the default) to create FDL files as you
did in 7.10
Full documentation can be found in the PDL Reference Manual, Chapter 5,
QUTIL Statements (8.30 doc set)

Hi All. Is there a replacement (VMS) for the PHDFM command in PH 830d?
We use this in several jobs.

Also, any other gochas when going from 710g1 to 830d? I know about the
date/time change. I also heard that there is a newer version of PH - is
this a better one to wait for?

thnx
