Compatibility of Oracle 9i with HP-UX Powerhouse

We have tried running 8.20 and 8.30 with 9i, without success; mostly it
completely fails to even connect. We too are 'stuck' with 8i until Cognos
gets their act together. Given that we consider 8.30 to still be "beta
quality", we have not bothered looking at 8.40 at least until 8.30 is
usable. The 8.x3 versions _may_ be different from our VMS versions, so your
milage may vary.

Hello all,
We are currently running Powerhouse release 8.23.D7 with Oracle 8i
(release 8.1.7.0.0) on our HP-UX machines. We would like to upgrade
from Oracle 8i to Oracle 9i as soon as possible. However, according to
Cognos, Powerhouse 8.43, which will officially support use of 9i, is
not planned to be available for 3-6 more months.
-- Has anyone already converted to 9i with perhaps a beta version of
8.43? If so, has it been smooth? Or have there been problems?
-- Is anyone running Powerhouse 8.23 with Oracle 9i? If so, is it
working ok? Is it considered too risky to move to 9i while still with
8.23?
The reason for our concern is that Oracle is not going to support
version 8i after this year, and if Powerhouse 8.43 is not available for
6 months or more, we are concerned that we will be cutting it close for
system tests, addressing of problems, implementation, etc.
