Hi Chris,
Sorry it's taken me a while to jump in on this one...
The only relational databases directly supported by PowerHouse on OpenVMS
are Oracle Rdb and Oracle 7/8/8i/9i (depending on the version of
PowerHouse).
Hence, the only way that I can think of for you to access a MS SQL Server
database from PowerHouse on OpenVMS would be to use the Oracle Transparent
Gateway for MS SQL Server.
This requires that you have Oracle on your OpenVMS box and the gateway on
your SQL Server box. The gateway make the SQL Server database look just like
an Oracle database, and so PowerHouse thinks it's talking to Oracle when in
fact it's accessing a SQL Server database.
Best regards,
Conrad

Looking at it (as well as freetds & unixodbc).
Can VMS Powerhouse (either 7.10G or the latest & greatest 8.xx) talk to
foreign (MS SQL) databases ?
Thanks,
Chris
