Can metacharacters be used in a select prompt?

To put metacharacters in a prompt, I would put the characters
in a define ... parm prompt.
ie DEFINE match_string char * 30 = parm prompt "Enter selection"
ACCESS ...
SELECT IF " " = match_string &
OR MATCHPATTERN ( (NAME + ADDRESS), TRUNCATE (match_string))
