QTP Query - add / update

Would this do?

access file a link to file b opt
subfile sfname keep if not record file b exists include file a
output file b update if record file b exists
output file b alias bb add if not record file b exists

I'm doing something very similar at the moment!

Greetings listers . . .

I have a QTP that is doing an add / update to a file. 
eg
access file a
output file b add / update
  

I want to be able to subfile the records that added for exeception reporting
(update is the normal case) so is there an easy method of telling if I added
a new record or updated an existing one ?
